The Royal Government of Cambodia plans to build three more bridges across the Mekong River, including the main line, the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge, the Prek Pra Bridge, and the Lower Mekong Bridge (Chak Angre Leu). This was stated by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, during the inauguration ceremony of the concrete cable-stayed bridge connecting Koh Nora and Koh Pich on November 15, 2023.

Samdech Hun Manet emphasized that Cambodia plans to build three more bridges, namely the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge, which connects the night market area to the Arey Ksat area, and the Prek Pra Bridge, which Cambodia has already negotiated with the Chinese side, and plans to start in 2023, and the Lower Mekong Bridge (Chak Angre Leu).

It should be noted that Cambodia and China signed a concession loan agreement for the construction of the Prek Pra River Bridge on September 17, 2023. The Prek Pra bridge project is worth about 60 million US dollars and is located in Meanchey district, with a length of more than 800 meters, divided into 4 lanes (2 lanes to 2 lanes).

The Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge Project (Chroy Changvar-Arei Ksat) is planned to cost more than 245 million US dollars and has already been signed between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Government of the Republic of Korea on the morning of December 9, 2022. Under the high presidency of Samdech Hun Sen, former Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has said that the Cambodia-Republic of Korea Friendship Bridge (Old Market – Chroy Changva; Chroy Changva – Arei Ksat) will officially open the construction site at the end of 2023.
